Bloggy Bloggerson

“You should start a blog!”

It’s only been five years since I started hearing that, and about ten months since everyone gave up saying it. True to form, here I am, being contrary. Start a blog five years ago, don’t mind if I do — now that you no longer care.

If you’re new to the page, and you are, because this is the first post (you’re not fooling anyone,) let me intoduce myself.

I’m Heather, hence the clever page title (did you think I was Steve?) I’ve been married for 12 years. In an effort to allow my husband to keep some semblance of dignity while I spill my guts to the world, I’ve given him the option of a pseudonym. He’s chosen Thurston Von Shitbag III. Sort of rolls off the tongue, doesn’t it? Let’s call him Thor for short, my mother-in-law reads this.

My nine year old son chose Firestone Shadow, and my four year old son named himself Water. This right here is why I named our cats. Let’s call the boys Big and Little, since my family cannot be trusted with the task of choosing their own nicknames.

I’m a decent mother who swears a lot. If you don’t like swearing (or mothers) this is your warning. I write about parenthood, social commentary, general life observations, and whatever else pops into my head.

I’m a pro-vax, pro-science, equal rights advocate, and I have strong feelings. I’m fun at parties. I treat others with respect, and expect the same in return. So don’t be mean to me or each other (don’t make me use my mom voice.)

I write regularly for http://www.babypost.com and http://www.urbanmoms.ca, which you should definitely check out, and not just because I’m biased.

I can also be found on facebook at /HMJoneswriter and on Twitter at @HMJonesWriter.

So there you go, people in my life, I have a blog now!
